The COVID-19 pandemic has turned everyone’s world on a complete standstill. Businesses and establishments are closed with only a few restaurants operating for take outs and deliveries. Numerous companies have turned to a work-from-home scheme while others have fully stopped their operations. Classes on all levels have also been suspended for the sake of all students.

No doubt, this has changed everyone’s daily routines. Suddenly, with all members of the family at home, your household has become full and lively. And with the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) extended until the end of April 2020, it’s going to be quite the challenge to come up with another round of activities you and your family can enjoy at home.

Check out some of these ideas to keep you and your family entertained:

Put aside all mobile phones

Today, kids are so invested on their phones and social media. Have them take a break from it by agreeing to put aside everyone’s mobile devices for the day. To make it even more interesting, place a penalty on whoever touches their phones.

Do the chores

Aside from being a great help, involving your kids with house chores has been proven to be beneficial in terms of life skills. For instance, have your younger ones tag along when you do the laundry by letting them separate clothing items by colour. This way, you teach them to be responsible. After all, it doesn't end in buying a washing machine alone.

Keep in mind that If the chore involves appliance use, make sure they are well-attended to avoid accidents.

Get your game on

Spend quality time with your kids with a good old-fashioned board game like Snakes and Ladders, Guess Who, and Monopoly among others. If you don’t have any, games like Charades and Pinoy Henyo are great alternatives. You can also use game consoles for multiplayer games that family members can enjoy.

Have a movie night

This is a great way to bond with your kids. Now that you have the time, this is your chance to watch the movies you’ve wanted to see with your whole family. Get a list of what everyone wants to watch, assign someone to make a healthy snack, prepare some refreshments, and gather in front of the television.

Other than this, surely, there are a couple of other activities you can do to keep your family stress-free, happy, and productive. Families can use the remaining days of the ECQ to strengthen their bond with one another.
