How to Stop Siphonage on Your Beko Washing Machine

Is your washing machine filled with dirty water after a cycle? This could be due to

siphonage, which occurs when water flows back into the machine from the drain.

Fortunately, it’s an easy issue to fix by checking the placement of your washing machine’s

drain hose. Follow these simple steps to prevent siphonage and keep your laundry clean.

Step 1: Check the Insertion Depth of the Drain Hose

It’s essential that the drain hose is not inserted too far into the waste pipe. If the hose goes

too deep, it can cause a backflow of water, leading to dirty water entering your washing

machine.

Do not insert the drain hose more than 15 cm into the waste pipe. This distance is critical

to preventing siphonage.

Step 2: Ensure Proper Height of the Drain Hose

For the water to drain correctly, the height of the drain hose needs to be within a specific

range. Placing the hose too low or too high can interfere with the drainage process.

The drain hose should be connected at a minimum height of 40 cm and a maximum height

of 100 cm from the ground. This ensures smooth water flow and prevents siphonage.

Step 3: Use an Extension Hose if Necessary

If your current hose isn’t long enough to meet the required height, don't worry. You can

easily extend it using an extension hose. This will ensure the proper placement and

connection of the drain hose without needing to relocate your washing machine.

You can use an extension hose that is up to 3.2 meters in length to maintain the right height

and prevent any drainage issues.

Step 4: Final Check

After adjusting the hose height and insertion depth, run a short washing cycle to see if the

problem is resolved. If there’s no sign of dirty water returning into the drum, you’ve

successfully stopped siphonage!
