We promised for a sustainable world!

We promised for a sustainable world

Beko RecycledDry Tumble Dryers are made with approximately 15% recycled materials, including 2420 tons of waste plastic bottles. This is actually an indicator of how hard we work for a sustainable world.

Whatever we do has a bigger impact on the planet than we may believe. From the food we eat to the cars we drive to dryers we choose to bring into our homes.

Along with climate change, plastic pollution is one of the two biggest environmental problems today. With the increase in the world population, plastic production is also increasing. Plastic bottles, which cover a part of plastic consumption, are usually thrown away after the water in them is consumed.

Unfortunately, these bottles do not biodegrade, and after about 500 years they break into pieces and pollute the soil. This causes us to leave a bad world to future generations.

Moreover, harmful substances in plastic bottles poison the soil and groundwater. This affects both living things and vegetables and fruits.

In addition, plastic bottles mixed with the ocean are consumed by sea creatures. It harms both the health of ocean creatures and us because of the sea creatures we consume.

Let's look at the harm of plastic waste:

About 5 trillion plastics are produced each year, and approximately one billion birds and mammals die each year from digesting plastic waste.

The number of living species affected by plastic pollution is about 400.

More than 8.3 billion tons of plastic has been produced since 1950, and 60% of these plastics are dumped in landfills or directly into the environment.

As of 2015, 6300 tons of plastic waste was generated and only 9% of this waste was recycled.

Unless action is taken, it is estimated that plastic waste will cause 56 billion tons of carbon emissions by 2050.

Almost half of marine fish have microplastic particles in their stomachs.

Well, as Beko, what do we do to recycle plastics?

By focusing on plastic pollution, one of the biggest problems of the planet, we focus our R&D studies on this area. We continue to contribute to the fight against the global plastic crisis with washing machines and washer-dryer boilers that were produced using approximately 11.4 million recycled PET bottles in 2019 alone, and a total of 30 million recycled PET bottles.

As we said, Beko RecycledDry Tumble dryers are made with approximately 15% recycled materials, including 2420 tons of waste plastic bottles.

And if you wonder what that means, well, you get the same durability and performance you’d expect while the planet gets a little cleaner and healthier.

While we focus on plastic recycling, you can reduce the use of plastic.

Here are some ideas for you; You can use glass or steel flasks instead of pet bottles. Also, you can prefer glass jars instead of plastic storage containers. You can turn to sustainable storage and coating solutions. You can keep a cloth bag at home and go shopping with your cloth bag. In this way, you do not need plastic bags and you do not have to bring plastic bags to your home. You can purify your wardrobe from plastic by choosing 100 percent cotton clothes instead of buying nylon and polyester clothes. You can separate the plastics already in your home and throw them in the plastic recycling bins.

Why is plastic waste a problem?

Since plastics can remain undissolved in nature for a long time, plastic garbage harms the nature around the world. It endangers the lives of some animals by accumulating in their stomachs or circulating in their bodies.

How does plastic waste affect our environment?

Plastic can release harmful chemicals into the surrounding soil, which can then seep into groundwater or other surrounding water sources, and also the ecosystem.

Why is it important to reduce plastic waste?

Consuming less plastic can save humans and animals. Less plastic makes our water cleaner and our food safer.
