How to fix a vent hood fan that doesn’t work?

The fan is the main part of the cooker hood which extracts odours, steam and smoke created by cooking. If your hood is connected to a working outlet and turned on but the fan is still not working, see if one of the following will solve the problem.

Check for power failure

Check lights and other electrical appliances in your home and see whether the power is out or not. If they’re in working order, the fuse your hood is connected to may be faulty. In this case, seek the help of a qualified electrician for repairs.

Set the speed (some models)

Some models may need a speed setting to be selected before they start running. Press the speed button and select a setting to start your hood.

Consider technical problems

If the problem continues, your hood might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
