How to fix a washing machine that won’t fill with water?

Make sure that your appliance is plugged into a working water supply. If your washing machine is still not working, see if one of the following will solve the problem.

See if the water supply hose is bent or clogged

The water supply or inlet hose between the machine and the water supply shouldn’t be bent or clogged. Unclog it or straighten it if necessary. Replace leaking, punctured or rusted hoses.

See if the water intake filters are dirty or clogged

Check the water intake filters at the rear of your washing machine. There are two in total; one where the water supply and the water supply hose meet, and another where the hose enters the washing machine. These filters may need to be cleaned as they gather dirt and foreign objects over time.

Turn off the taps and remove the nuts of the water supply hose. Take out the filters and clean them with a brush. If they’re heavily soiled, remove the filters along with the gaskets using pliers, and clean them thoroughly under running water. Replace them carefully and tighten the nuts by hand.

Check that the door is closed properly

If your washing machine detects that its door is open, it won’t fill with water. Make sure that the door is firmly closed. Remove items that get caught in the door and shut it until you hear a locking sound.

Consider technical problems

If the problem continues, your washing machine might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
