Washing machines rarely fail without giving a clue. When the cycle won’t start, water won’t flow, or the drum won’t turn, the root cause is often hidden in small, easy to-overlook details. In this second part, we continue exploring the most common reasons behind machine malfunctions, focusing on areas many users forget to check: filters, blockages, and trapped objects.

These steps take only a few minutes but can prevent bigger issues later on.

1. Clean the Water Inlet Filter

If your machine struggles to take in water or shows errors related to water supply, the inlet filter may be blocked. Over time, small particles from tap water accumulate and slow the flow. Thankfully, cleaning it is simple.

Check for Clogging

Look at the water inlet valve filter to see if dirt or sediment is blocking it.

Disconnect the Hose

Remove the water hose carefully and rinse it thoroughly. A clogged hose can affect water pressure more than people realise.

Reattach the Filter Securely

Once clean, place the filter back into position and tighten the hose again. A secure connection ensures stable flow and helps prevent leaks.

2. Clean the Pump Filter for Smooth Draining

If you notice water remaining in the drum or the machine takes unusually long to drain, the pump filter may be the reason. Items like coins, hairpins, lint, or even small fabric pieces often find their way there.

Check Every 3 Months

The pump and its filter should be inspected quarterly to avoid blockages.

Prepare for Water Spillage

Before opening the pump filter cover at the front base, place a bowl and a towel beneath it. This avoids small puddles during cleaning.

Remove the Filter

Turn the filter counterclockwise and pull it out gently. Look for anything that shouldn’t be there: coins, lint, hairpins, or other debris.

Inspect the Pump Housing

Sometimes objects can get trapped deeper inside. Make sure the pump area is free from blockages.

Reinsert the Filter

Turn the filter clockwise to secure it back into place.

Regular pump filter cleaning protects the machine from drainage issues and helps cycles run smoothly.
