How to install your new Beko refrigerator with tanked or plumbed water dispenser?
How to install your new Beko refrigerator with tanked or plumbed water dispenser?

What you’ll need

Wrench, screwdriver

Integrated water tank or water mains

Parts and accessories:

Water supply hose, water filter, fixings (for plumbed models)

Level of difficulty:

Non-plumbed models: 1/5

Plumbed-in models: 4/5

Approx. time:

15 min for non-plumbed models

45 min for plumbed-in models

Before you start

Before using your refrigerator’s water dispenser, you need to figure out if it’s a tanked (non-plumbed) or a plumbed model. Tanked models have a plastic or glass water tank inside the door for water storage. Plumbed models need to be connected to a water supply to operate.

If you’ve followed the steps on our refrigerator installation guide, you’re ready to move on with the water connections.

Non-plumbed refrigerators with water dispenser

If your refrigerator is not a plumbed model, it must have a water tank to pull water from. Water tanks are usually inside fridge doors and are removable. Consult your user manual and find your fridge’s water tank.

Remove the tank and give it a rinse under the tap before using it. Then, fill the tank with drinking water. Once your fridge is ready to dispense water, fill a glass at least 4 or 5 times and pour the water out before drinking from the dispenser.

Plumbed refrigerators with water dispenser

If you’ve just bought a plumbed refrigerator, it should have come with a water hose and fittings for the connections.

Plumbed fridges need to be connected directly to a water supply. This could be your home’s main water supply or a carboy. Some models are also equipped with an external water filter. So, here is how to make these connections.

Connecting to the water mains

First you’ll need to attach the water hose to the appliance. To do this, remove the connector piece from the water inlet at the rear of the appliance.

Thread the hose through the connector piece. Push the hose firmly into the inlet.

Push the connector back into position, then turn to tighten. You should be able to do this by hand, but you can use a wrench or pliers to make sure the connection is secure.

Next, you’ll need to make the connection between the hose and the water mains. First, connect the adaptor to the tap, making sure to firmly tighten the connection.

Now, remove the hose connector from the adaptor.

Thread the end of the water hose through the hose connector you removed previously, then screw the connector back onto the adaptor having pushed the hose firmly into the adaptor first (as you did to make the connection to the appliance).

Finally, attach the hose clips to a wall, then use these to secure the water hose to avoid it shifting, becoming disconnected or being damaged when moving the appliance.

Installing the water filter

You may also wish to install the water filter that is supplied with some models. To do this, you’ll need to follow the same procedure as above, with the addition of mounting the filter to a wall.

First, you’ll need to identify a position where you can mount the filter to a wall. Note that the filter must not be mounted to the appliance. Once you’ve identified a position, you can affix the mounting brackets provided with your appliance to the wall. Note that the filter must be installed in an upright position. Once the brackets are installed, clip the filter into position.

Two water hoses will be running from either end of the filter. Connect these to the water supply tap and the appliance as described above.

Testing the connections

Turn the water supply on and check for any leaks. If you do notice a leak, turn off the water supply and tighten all the connections, wipe away leakage, then turn the water supply on again to check.

Make sure to let at least 4 or 5 big glasses of water to run through the appliance before you start drinking from the water dispenser.

Before using

Before you plug in your appliance and switch it on at the mains, wait at least 4 hours for the compressor gas and liquid to settle. After this period, you’re ready to plug the appliance in, switch it on at the mains and move it into position. Tilt the refrigerator backwards and use the wheels at the rear base to position the appliance. Take care not to upset any water connections or tangle the mains lead.

Once in position, adjust the front feet of the appliance to make sure it’s level. Turn the rings around the feet by hand until both feet are firmly in contact with the floor. Use a spirit level to make sure the appliance is level.

Finally, you can fill any water reservoirs. You’ll need to wait for about 6 hours before you can load any groceries into your new refrigerator, as it needs this time to reach the set temperature.

So, there you have it. You’ve just installed your new Beko refrigerator with water dispenser! We hope you enjoy using your new appliance.
